Healthy Vegetarian Advice from Savvy Vegetarian

Is It Possible To Be Healthy and Happy On A Vegetarian Diet?

A surprising number of people slide into vegetarian diet from a desire for healthy eating and healthy lifestyle. They may start off reducing red meat or eating more fiber, or cutting down on saturated fat and cholesterol. Before they know it, they realize they're halfway to being vegetarian, because all of those health benefits are features of a vegetarian diet.

Then they start worrying about whether it's really possible to be a healthy vegetarian! If you're wondering what to eat, and how to thrive on a vegetarian diet, chances are good you'll find answers in the advice letters below.

Savvy Vegetarian gets a lot of advice letters, these days! I read them all, and answer as many as I can (about 30%), as quickly as I can. It may take me a while to respond. I focus on answering the letters that seem most pressing, that I haven't answered before, and that I'm qualified to answer.

Please keep in mind that I'm not a medical person, and can't give medical advice. If you have medical related questions, the most I can do is pass along my research.
